First, good job with the questions Ross. Don’t disagree with anything you said.
What a weird week. It is appropriate that today is Halloween. Wonder if Boltman will make a cameo.

Before I read the caption I thought some kid had just gotten an autograph from Jackson.

Ditka is getting ready to go Ghost Busters on our Chargers on ESPN.

My prediction?
Further proof that Archie was right.

I don’t know. The mooshy mooshy stuff made me feel a tad uncomfortable.
Nothing chick flicky about Coglin though. Wish we could dig him up and make him our coach.

With the blackout, you can listen to Hank Bauer and Josh Lewin here:

sweet! Another blocked punt! I guess I should be thankful that it wasn’t a touchdown.

I’m not getting good reception, missing most of the game. Not sure if my wine is working for us. I did notice the Chiefs shanked a field goal as soon as I busted open a bottle.
October 31st, 2010 at 3:48 pm
Nope. Chiefs won. Maybe I need to sit on a different couch. I’m thinking of doing the unthinkable and breaking out my Tomlinson shirt. I feel I need to do something drastic.

Still don’t look good running the football but I hope they stick with it.
October 31st, 2010 at 4:10 pm
I can’t believe how consistently bad this team looks. Defense good enough to hang in games that we can’t score late in and can’t hold in games where we have a chance to build on a lead.
October 31st, 2010 at 4:35 pm
From what I’ve seen, we look no better than we did the first week.
October 31st, 2010 at 4:39 pm
Looking for more out of Mathews the second half and a better job by the secondary.
October 31st, 2010 at 5:08 pm
91 yards to score a touchdown. We have not had good field position all day.
October 31st, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Yes. Now watch the Tennessee bullshit start.

Did Norv just call a sideline pass into his own endzone, or did Rivers and Hester just foul that up? If that was the playcall, I haven’t seen a worse one since Henning called a backwards lateral into his own endzone to Butts.
I’m not usually one to criticize playcalls, but that was horrible, if, in deed, he Norv called that.

Yay!

Started to forget what a win feels like…couldn’t see the game, but from everything I’ve read, it wasn’t perfect. However, as Vin Diesel once said, “It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile…winning’s winning!”
Still, it’s gonna get tougher and we need to get our shit straight.

Ha! Thanks for posting my pic Ross. I couldn’t think of a better use for my Merriman jersey than to have it thrown up on. It pretty much sums up our season. That picture is what happens when you combine beer, pumpkin carving, and Charger fan.
I just got back from the game, and even though we won, it just didn’t feel like it was a good win for us. A win is a win, and I’ll take it for what it’s worth, but even in victory something is definitely off with this team. An overtime loss by the Chiefs against Buffalo would have made my day, but I’m sick of having to worry about what another team is doing.
Happy Halloween to everyone, and let’s hope things aren’t as bleak as we think they are.

as i sat watching the game and watched the titans get to 4th and 5 on their last drive i had that overwhelming sense of deja vu but instead of extreme angst i was almost serene. How will they blow it this time i wondered. After the titans converted and continued to drive down the field i was fully expecting them to score and make the 2 pt conversion and then somehow win in OT.This team has not only made me numb but i have come to expect them to lose in some silly fashion that seems to defy odds.I will still continue to follow and root every week but i think the hope is gone until they prove otherwise

Apparently Norv had had enough by halftime and lit into our sorry ass team. The Brown score sent him over the edge.
We’re lucky Sproles had a good day. Looks like Norv will continue to use him in a lot of situations.
Tolbert had a good day also which I think led to Sproles getting the advantage.
All the backs contributed which was key to our victory.
The Fresno boys did all right.
And of course Gates is having an MVP season.

Any time we beat the Titans is a bonus. Fisher is now something like 0-7 against us. He has tried everything - even taking out our guys with cheap shots - and it has not worked. This season is no longer a total failure - keep Fishing!
I refereed a soccer game yesterday - at half time the score was 4-0. The team behind dragged their sorry asses off the field and I thought this game is a blowout. Start of the second half and the team behind scored a goal, it lit their fire - they won 5-4. Perhaps this win will have the same effect (or perhaps I am confusing soccer with football)…

Gates driven to his car Monday. Not looking good for Planet Houston.

Ross, I’d sit Gates out until after the bye week. He’s just gonna keep getting more injuries if they don’t. I’m more concerned about his future with the team than this season.

From the Male Sack of the U-T:
How can AJ let VJ go at the end of the season without getting any compensation for him? Does he plan to franchise tag him then trade him? Why would you trade him or let him go given Floyd’s and Nanee’s injuries? You hear nothing but good things from coaches and players about VJ. The guy made mistakes, he’s been out of trouble since and he deserves another chance. The Chargers will not be the same offensevly without him. IMO letting VJ go will be the biggest mistake AJ will ever make as GM.

Wow. I’ll have to ponder that for a while, but you might ultimately be right in that ranking of mistakes … I wrote in the spring they should sign him to a long-term deal. I consider him one of the top 5 WR in the league … I’ve gone into detail again and again why AJ has decided to move on without VJ, and it has to do with the amount of money VJ wants and the legal issues he’s had.

I still think he’s more reliable than Legedu. Also, the frailty of Floyd and Naanee might force AJ to rethink his stance on Jackson.
